Facebook is now Meta 

On October 28, 2021, Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive, Mark Zuckerberg, announced that Facebook is now Meta during Connect 2021, the company's annual tech event. The theme of this year's event is "Our Vision for the Metaverse". The organization says Meta will bring together all the  apps and technologies under one company brand.

Mark added by saying "Meta's focus will bring the metaverse to life and help people connect, find communities and grow businesses.

In the Founder's Letter 2021, the CEO mentioned that "We are at the beginning of the next chapter for the internet, and it’s the next chapter for our company too". He spoke out the organization's plans for the future while highlighting the journey so far.

Connection is evolving and so are we.

The Social Media giant, which is headquartered at 1 Hacker Way, Menlo Park, California, announced that "Our company's vision is to bring the metaverse to life, so we are changing our name to reflect our commitment to this future".

Exciting new technologies are being developed that will help people connect and explore in the metaverse. The metaverse will be a collective project that goes beyond a single company. It will be created by people all over the world, and open to everyone.

Meta has 17 data centers globally, all of which are supported by 100% renewable energy. It has offices in over 80 cities worldwide across Africa, North America, Latin America, Asia, Middle East and Europe.
